Product Overview

DOWSIL™ SILASTIC™ 8257 Silicone Foam Black is a 2-part, room-temperature fast-expanding liquid silicone foam designed for formed-in-place gasketing (FIPG), environmental sealing, and thermal/acoustic insulation in complex electronic, automotive, and EV battery pack enclosures. Upon mixing, the two liquid components rapidly react and expand at room temperature to form a low-density, flexible, medium-closed-cell silicone sponge elastomer. It delivers excellent compressibility, low compression set, and robust flame retardancy. The bulk 2x180 L drum kit (180 L Part A + 180 L Part B) is engineered for high-volume automated robotic dispensing lines and automotive OEM operations.

Usage Note: Dispense Part A and Part B through automated 1:1 meter-mix dispensing machinery equipped with static or dynamic mixers. The expansion rate and snap time depend on ambient temperature. Avoid exposure to sulfur, amines, organometallic compounds, and nitrogen compounds to prevent platinum catalyst cure inhibition. Fully optimized for high-throughput robotic dispensing systems.
