DOWSIL™ 6-1104 Controlled Volatility Sealant White 142 G
Product Overview
DOWSIL™ 6-1104 Controlled Volatility Sealant White is a high-purity, 1-part, non-slump, neutral alkoxy-cure room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone adhesive and sealant specially engineered for aerospace, spaceflight, optics, and sensitive electronic applications. Its controlled low-outgassing properties prevent fogging and contamination of optical components and sensitive surfaces in vacuum environments. Curing at room temperature upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, it forms a tough, flexible, white silicone rubber joint. The 142 gram tube format enables precise hand-application for critical assembly tasks.
Key Features and Benefits
• Controlled Volatility / Low Outgassing: Strictly limits volatile condensable materials under vacuum and space flight conditions to safeguard optics and electronics. • NASA / ESA Outgassing Standards: Formulated to meet rigorous industry standards for low Total Mass Loss (TML) and Collected Volatile Condensable Material (CVCM). • Non-Corrosive Neutral Cure: Safe for sensitive electronics, copper, silver, and aerospace metallic alloys. • Non-Slump Paste: Easily maintains shape on vertical or complex geometries without sagging. • Wide Operating Temperature: Retains elasticity and physical properties from -55°C to +200°C (-67°F to +392°F). • Unprimed Adhesion: Excellent unprimed bonding to metals, glass, ceramics, and rigid aerospace substrates.
Technical Specifications
• Color: White • Packaging / Net Weight: Tube / 142 Grams • Cure System: Neutral Alkoxy (RTV) • Skin-Over Time (@ 23°C, 50% RH): ~15-30 Minutes • Tensile Strength: ~2.5 MPa • Elongation at Break: 400% • Hardness (Shore A): ~35 • Service Temperature Range: -55°C to +200°C (-67°F to +392°F)
Applications
• Sealing and bonding satellite components, space vehicles, missiles, and aerospace sub-assemblies. • Assembly of sensitive optical instruments, lens housings, laser systems, and sensor assemblies. • Defense electronics, radar units, and critical communication hardware. • Vacuum chambers and cleanroom applications where volatile outgassing is strictly prohibited.
Usage Note: Ensure substrate surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, dried, and free from contaminants prior to application. Easily dispensed using the 142 g squeeze tube for precise manual application.
